Presence – God is everywhere & God is always everywhere

God’s omnipresence is always more than a cold fact. It is to do with His omniscience and utter faithfulness to those who belong to Him. Humans, even redeemed humans, are frail, changeable, fickle, and can be rebellious. In contrast, God is constant. And God is constantly with us

His omnipresence is a reassurance for the believer. Even for Jonah, seeking to flee from God and His call to proclaim His word in a foreign land, God’s omnipresence preserved Jonah’s life and redirected him to that call to Nineveh.

In contrast, the presence of God is a real ‘problem’ for those who reject Him. There is a tension here. 2 Thess 1.9 refers to those who do not know God, being cast away from the presence of the Lord. For such, the presence of God is not comfortable; but being away from that presence is much, much worse.
